Paul Foertsch has been tattooing in Bellingham for over twenty-six years, spending the majority of that time working at Old School Tattoo in downtown Bellingham. In 2013, Paul and his wife, Jenny, purchased Old School and operated the shop together until 2021.

During the COVID lockdown, they took a step back and realized that running a large, busy shop was no longer aligned with how they wanted to spend their time or energy. That pause created space to reimagine what their “dream” studio could look like—one rooted in intention, balance, and meaningful client connection.

Their complementary skill sets, values, and priorities led to the creation of Blue Heron Craftworks. Family-owned and operated, they work closely together to provide a thoughtful, supportive experience from the first point of contact through walking out the door with a finished tattoo.

Blue Heron Craftworks is a private, two-room tattoo studio located in the historic Sycamore Square building in the heart of Fairhaven. Our mission is to offer a positive, personable, and inclusive experience in a clean, professional environment. We aim to help each client realize their vision through high-quality work, careful collaboration, and an experience that feels both comfortable and considered.
